Project Description

Project Description: The purpose of this project was to improve 1st Street beginning at the pedestrian overpass near Temple College to the West Avenue U.

This project consisted of improving First Street through the project area. Improvements included 10’ concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter in the existing painted turn lanes, traffic control design, drainage improvements, geometry design and modifications for turn lanes, as well as hardscape and landscape modifications.

Scope of Services Provided: KPA provided preliminary planning and design services as well as design surveys. This project was partially funded through a federal grant administered by TxDOT. KPA worked closely with TxDOT’s Grant Administrator, Mr. Jim Reed, from preliminary planning to project closeout and acceptance.  Final Design (Plans and Specifications), Surveying, Permitting, Easement Preparation, Opinion of Probable Cost, On Site Representation and Construction Administration.

Construction Cost: $2,110,600
